We are hoping that this post finds all of you safe at home and in good health. TRA has been contacted by a thoughtful group of young NGC engineers who have offered to provide grocery shopping assistance on weekends to our Torrance TRA members only on a first come first served basis.
Austin Olson is leading the effort. Austin is a recent UCLA graduate in mechanical engineering and has been working at Northrop Grumman for less than a year. He has a group of NGC peers who will assist him. Austin piloted this program with our Redondo Beach members to see if there is a pressing need and also to iron out logistics. He and his team are ready to expand into Torrance.
TRA is providing Austin with the means to contact you via email. Our past TRA president, Mary Ann Chory, has volunteered to “virtually” help the volunteers organize the requests.
If you live in Torrance or Redondo Beach, you should have received an email from the TRA offering this service containing instructions on how to take advantage of this offer. Depending on interest and ability to service, this offer will roll out to other cities and selective emails will be sent to those members.
Our TRA board is truly touched by the concern and initiative of our next generation NGC engineers. We are very grateful for their willingness to help our community. Depending on how this program continues to work, Austin and his volunteers will expand to a broader set of our members.
Stay safe and healthy
