JWST: Viewing the Beginning of Time

Fellow TRA member, Jack Trost, would like for everyone to know about a special event at the Western Museum of Flight on August  20 at 11 am when Debra Simmons, JWST Observatory System Engineering Lead for Northrop Grumman, will be lecturing about the current success of the JWST mission. This is in conjunction with the museum’s Celebrity Lecture Series.

Debra was responsible for ensuring that all the requirements for the observatory system were met in the design and construction of the telescope. Clearly, her efforts and those of her team, were successful because the system is now deployed and doing a superb job. Please join us to hear the story of this amazing space observatory and the exciting scientific future that it promises.

The timing of the lecture is significant since NASA expects to release the first color images and spectroscopic data on July 12.

NOTE:  This event will be recorded and made available via YouTube on September 17.
